The crime rate in the National Capital Region dropped by 19.61% in January 2025, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Acting NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin reported that 451 crimes against persons and properties were recorded, marking a decrease of 110 cases compared to January 2024. He attributed the decline to intensified police operations targeting illegal drugs, loose firearms, illegal gambling, and wanted persons.
Significant crime reductions were observed, including rape (46.49%), physical injuries (37.14%), homicide (28.57%), murder (17.65%), and theft (23.05%). The NCRPO also recorded a clearance efficiency of 92.46% and a solution efficiency of 72.73%.
Meanwhile, Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III reported that 1,177 wanted individuals and suspects were arrested in January. Authorities also seized 139 firearms, six explosives, and various pieces of evidence amounting to P97.2 million.
Police continue to strengthen crime prevention efforts across Metro Manila to sustain the downward trend.
