Three hospitality management students from Central Philippines State University (CPSU) Main Campus in Kabankalan City emerged as champions in an ASEAN culinary competition after their Laos-inspired dip-and-sauce entry bested competing teams during the 59th ASEAN Celebration in Bacolod City.
According to The Cenphilian, the university’s official student publication, second-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students Princess Dawn C. Camral, Zillah Pauline T. Vicentino, and Roy C. Cabrejas won the “Flavors in a Bowl: ASEAN Dip and Sauce Challenge,” held at the University of St. La Salle on August 3–4.
The publication said the CPSU team represented Laos in the competition, preparing a dip-and-sauce entry inspired by the country’s culinary traditions.
Their dish stood out among entries from participating higher education institutions and private schools, earning them the top prize.
The competition formed part of the ASEAN celebration, highlighting the region’s diverse food culture while giving hospitality students an opportunity to showcase their culinary skills and creativity.
The delegation was led by College of Hospitality Management (CHM) Dean Sheila Abanilla Ignacio, with faculty members Daryl Faith Bacolod, Roland Celis, and Charity Asildeque serving as coaches and mentors.*
