Residents of Sitio Abyag in Binaliuan Menor, Tigbauan, Iloilo saw an unusual farm event when a cow delivered triplets, a case local agriculture officials described as rare.
The Tigbauan Municipal Agriculture Office confirmed the birth after receiving a report from the livestock owner. The agency said cases of cows giving birth to three calves are uncommon, which explains the excitement of the household caring for the animals.
On November 14, personnel from the agriculture office visited the village to check on the condition of the newborn calves. Their inspection showed the animals were stable. Staff also provided vitamins and antibiotics to support the calves’ early development and reduce possible health risks.
The office noted that births like this seldom appear in local records, making the event noteworthy for both the community and the municipal agriculture team. The agency assured the owner of continued monitoring as the calves grow in the coming weeks.
The family caring for the animals said they were grateful for the prompt support from officials, especially since managing multiple newborn calves can be demanding without proper guidance.
Local agriculture workers added that while rare, such cases highlight the importance of regular monitoring, balanced nutrition and timely veterinary care for livestock owners in the area.
