Corruption cases involving flood control turned over to the Ombudsman

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has officially turned over to the Office of the Ombudsman the cases filed against officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the 1st District of Bulacan.

Aside from DPWH personnel, several contractors are also included.

Among the individuals named are Henry Alcantara, Brice Ericson Hernandez, Aryjay Domasig, Jaypee Mendoza, Niño Lawrence Morales, Juanito Mendoza, Floralyn Simbulan, Christina Mae Pineda, and Sally Santos.

As of now, no lawmakers are included in the cases.

According to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla, this is only the beginning of their actions, and more developments are expected in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Acting Justice Secretary Eric Vida clarified that this is still only a referral based on their investigation with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Deputy Investigators and Prosecutors’ System.
