A 22-year-old construction worker was fatally shot late Monday night while walking to his girlfriend’s house in Sitio Lower Cavalry, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.
The victim, identified as Rico Pepito, a native of San Remigio, Cebu, and a current resident of Sitio Rotunda, Barangay Apas, was attacked around 11:30 p.m.
According to police, Pepito was walking alone when the suspect, identified only as “Alfie,” a resident of Upper Laguerta, Sitio Tarcum, Barangay Lahug, opened fire. The assailant was reportedly accompanied by two accomplices who acted as backup during the attack.
Witnesses said Pepito had no known disputes with anyone, leaving authorities puzzled about the motive behind the killing. Police have launched an investigation and are actively pursuing the suspect and his accomplices.
The incident has left the local community in shock and has raised concerns about safety in the area. Pepito’s grieving family has called for justice, urging authorities to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly.
The brutal killing comes amid heightened public concern over recent reports of violence in Cebu City.
