Comelec yet to receive letter on resignation of ACT-CIS Rep. Edvic Yap

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said it has not yet received any letter regarding the resignation of ACT-CIS party-list Representative Edvic Yap.

Comelec appealed for the immediate submission of a formal letter concerning Yap’s resignation, which followed his implication in the flood control scandal.

According to Comelec Chairman George Garcia, the poll body is still waiting for an official communication confirming the lawmaker’s resignation.

Garcia explained that once a declaration or resignation letter is submitted, the commission will be able to officially certify the party-list nominee who will replace Yap.

For this reason, Comelec urged that the letter be sent as soon as possible so the agency can promptly take action.
