The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of minors who were arrested during the mass protest held in Manila on September 21.
In a statement, the CHR said its various offices are actively coordinating to determine the status of the minors and ensure their well-being while under the custody of the Manila Police District (MPD).
Through its Child Rights Center, the commission said it continues to monitor both the release process and current conditions of those detained.
The CHR also assured that it will issue guidelines for aftercare programs to support the reintegration of the affected youth.
Lastly, the agency affirmed that it will continue documenting, monitoring, and investigating reports of possible human rights violations related to the incident.
