Two-time Olympic champion Carlos Yulo captured the Philippines’ first gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games after ruling the men’s floor exercise final at the Nagoya General Gymnasium in Japan.
Yulo topped the field with 14.666 points, highlighted by an 8.966 execution score and 5.7 difficulty score, to claim his first-ever Asian Games gold medal.
Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi settled for silver with 14.600 points, while Japan’s Shoma Tsukiyama took bronze with 14.566.
The victory also marked Yulo’s first Asian Games medal, adding to his collection of gold medals from the SEA Games, World Championships, and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Yulo will have two more opportunities to add to his gold medal haul as he competes in the vault and parallel bars finals.
Meanwhile, his younger brother Karl Eldrew Yulo finished seventh in the floor exercise final with 12.233 points.
