The Commission on Appointments (CA) has confirmed Vince Dizon’s ad interim appointment as the Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Secretary Dizon replaced Jaime Bautista as DOTr chief after the latter resigned due to health issues.
Dizon was among the cabinet members who submitted courtesy resignations at the request of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The DOTr chief revealed that Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin told him that the President did not accept his resignation.
There was no opposition to Dizon’s appointment as DOTr Secretary, so after several hours of questioning from senators and congressmen, his appointment was immediately confirmed.
Some of the challenges Dizon will face as DOTr Secretary include the rehabilitation of EDSA, a major road in Metro Manila, implementing the Makati Subway, and the MRT 7, which will serve as a common station for other railways in Metro Manila.
