The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) named ten institutions and local government partners in the Visayas as this year’s awardees for their contributions to financial inclusion, stability, and payment system efficiency.
The recognition was given during the Outstanding BSP Stakeholders Appreciation Ceremony (OBSAC) on Tuesday, September 23.
BSP officials said the awards underscore how banks, cooperatives, and local governments contribute to financial growth at the community level.
Among the awardees were Card Bank, Inc.’s Roxas branch; Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) branches in Dumaguete and Tacloban; the LBP Iloilo cash operations unit; and Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company branches in Roxas and Cebu Fuente Osmeña Center.
The Talisay City government in Negros Occidental was recognized for governance and financial programs, while the Cebu Bankers Club, Tacloban Bankers Association, Inc., and Perpetual Help Community Cooperative were cited for promoting financial literacy and local economic support.
The event also marked the launch of “Leading the BSP in the Pandemic,” a book by Monetary Board Member and former BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno, which detailed policy actions taken during COVID-19.
Diokno said holding the ceremony in Iloilo was significant, pointing to the province’s effective response during the health crisis.*
