Laughter and excitement filled Barangay San Miguel as Brigada News and volunteers surprised local children with a heartwarming ice cream treat.
The activity, called “Pa-Ice Cream sa Brigada,” aimed to bring joy and comfort to young residents who recently experienced fear and anxiety due to consecutive earthquakes in the area. Volunteers handed out free ice cream to dozens of children, turning an ordinary day into one filled with smiles, laughter, and renewed hope.
According to organizers, the simple gesture was part of Brigada’s continuing effort to reach out to communities affected by disasters. The initiative focused on helping children recover emotionally from trauma brought by the recent tremors that shook Davao Oriental.
Parents expressed gratitude to Brigada and its sponsors for showing care and compassion to their children during a time of distress. Many said that the event reminded them that kindness and unity can lift spirits even in challenging times.
Volunteers said seeing the children laugh again was their biggest reward. “Sometimes, the smallest acts of care — like sharing ice cream — can heal hearts,” one Brigada team member shared.
Brigada extended thanks to all its sponsors and partners who made the event possible, promising to continue its outreach programs for affected communities across Mindanao.
