Authorities destroy ₱7m worth of marijuana in Kalinga

Authorities destroyed nearly ₱7 million worth of marijuana plants in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga, during a high-impact anti-drug operation.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), led the operation. According to authorities, approximately 34,500 fully grown marijuana plants were found and burned across a 2,300-square-meter area.

The marijuana eradication was part of a broader campaign against illegal drugs in the region. The PDEA emphasized that the success of such operations goes beyond government efforts and relies heavily on the active participation of the local community.

“The success of our anti-drug operations is not just due to the hard work of government agencies, but also the cooperation of the people,” the agency said.

Authorities stressed that community engagement is key to sustaining the momentum in the fight against illegal drugs and ensuring the safety of residents in affected areas.

No arrests were reported during the operation.
