Brave local residents recently captured a fleeing bag snatcher during a high-stakes pursuit along San Roque Street on Monday morning.
The suspect, known as “Alias Mark,” allegedly grabbed a luxury bag from a senior citizen while she sat inside her vehicle. The forty-two-year-old resident of Malipayon Village attempted to escape the scene quickly by using a getaway motorcycle during the encounter.
The stolen bag reportedly contains roughly ten thousand pesos in total value along with two thousand pesos in cold hard cash. The victim immediately shouted for help from nearby bystanders who successfully chased and tackled the suspect to the ground very quickly.
Police officers arrived shortly after the citizens’ arrest to take the handcuffed suspect into their official custody for further legal questioning. Authorities later discovered that the apprehended suspect actually works as a private driver for the victim’s own brother in the city.
The Roxas City Police Station currently holds the suspect while investigators prepare the formal criminal charges for his upcoming court trial. Local officials praised the residents for their quick actions but reminded everyone to remain cautious when facing potentially dangerous criminal suspects.
