Alex Enriquez wins silver medal in Asian Games jiu-jitsu

Alex Enriquez secured the silver medal for the Philippines after losing to Thailand’s Orapa Senatham in the women’s -63kg jiu-jitsu event at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi, Japan.

Senatham won by advantage after earning a near-pass or near-sweep in a match that lasted nearly seven minutes.

Despite falling short in the final, Enriquez delivered the Philippine jiu-jitsu team’s best finish in the competition.

Before the final, Enriquez defeated Palestine’s Dania Obaid and Kazakhstan’s Marian Zhuravleva before beating Mongolia’s Narankhishig Baasanjargal in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Andrea Lois Lao finished fourth in the women’s -63kg event after losing to Baasanjargal, 0-2, in the bronze medal match.

Enriquez’s silver adds to the bronze medal won by Kaila Napolis in the women’s -52kg event.
