Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is taking a much-needed two-day break following a grueling stretch of matches before heading to Cincinnati for her next tournament.
Eala exited the National Bank Open in Toronto in the Round of 16 after falling to world No. 14 Belinda Bencic of Switzerland, 4-6, 0-6.
Despite the loss, Eala described her recent run as a major positive after overcoming several tough opponents.
During her brief break, Eala said she also plans to attend to some personal errands—including getting a haircut and trimming her nails.
The Filipina star admitted she has gone a long time without getting a haircut, while her nails have also grown out after her hectic tournament schedule.
“I definitely will take maybe two days off, a day or two. I do have to travel to Cincinnati. I need to get a haircut. I haven’t gotten a haircut in a while. My nails are grown out,” Eala said.
Eala also plans to spend time with friends and temporarily shift her focus away from tennis before returning to the court.
“I’ll do a couple things, just to get my mind off tennis. Yeah, reunite maybe with some friends in Cincinnati, and just try to have fun. I’ll be back on court like that, so I got to enjoy what I have. I got to enjoy the time that I have that I’m not on court,” she added.
Following the short reset, Eala will head to Cincinnati for the Cincinnati Open, a WTA 1000 tournament scheduled from August 10 to 17.
The tournament will serve as another crucial stop in Eala’s hard-court campaign as she continues building momentum ahead of the US Open.
