Acidre says Tiangco appears to speak as ally of VP Sara Duterte

Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre questioned the position of Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco over statements related to the impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Acidre raised concerns after Tiangco claimed that lawmakers allegedly linked to the flood control scandal were pushing the impeachment case. Tiangco said these lawmakers were supporting the impeachment because they believed Duterte would not agree to any settlement if she became president.

Despite Tiangco denying that he is aligned with or supportive of Vice President Duterte, Acidre said his statements, timing, and messaging appeared similar to narratives that criticize the impeachment process while defending individuals under investigation.

Acidre said it is natural for the public to question such claims and form their own conclusions. He added that Tiangco might be raising concerns out of fear related to the situation.

The Tingog lawmaker said that if Tiangco intends to stand by his allegations, he should identify the individuals he claimed were bribed to support the impeachment. Acidre also urged Tiangco to present documents and file formal complaints to support his claims.

Without evidence, Acidre warned that Tiangco should stop spreading rumors or disinformation. He stressed that public officials have a responsibility to rely on evidence rather than repeating unsupported narratives.

Acidre added that the public deserves leaders who take clear positions based on facts and verified information. He emphasized that accountability and transparency remain important as discussions surrounding the impeachment process continue.
