Sen. Robin Padilla has urged the public and his supporters to remain calm and avoid organizing any activities when he returns to the Department of Justice on Nov. 6 for another hearing in connection with an obstruction of justice complaint.
The complaint stemmed from allegations that Padilla helped Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa leave the Senate building in May.
In a statement, Padilla appealed to his supporters and fellow members of his group to remain composed, vigilant and avoid acting on emotions during the scheduled proceedings.
Padilla said he had received serious information and warnings about another group allegedly planning to take advantage of the same date to create disorder.
He cautioned that any action from his supporters could be used to cast a negative impression on what he described as their legitimate intentions.
The senator emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and allowing the legal process to take its course.
He also reminded his supporters to remain alert amid what he described as a sensitive situation.
Padilla further advised them to reserve their efforts until the circumstances become clearer and there is a concrete legal basis for any action.
His appeal came ahead of his scheduled Nov. 6 appearance before the DOJ, where proceedings involving the obstruction of justice complaint are expected to continue.
The case concerns allegations surrounding Dela Rosa’s departure from the Senate building last May, with Padilla accused of helping him leave the premises.
Padilla’s message focused on preventing possible disorder during the hearing and ensuring that his supporters do not act impulsively.
He reiterated his call for restraint, vigilance and respect for the legal process as he prepares to face the DOJ proceedings.
