Trump administration revokes over 300,000 US visas amid immigration crackdown

The administration of US President Donald Trump has revoked more than 300,000 visas since he began his second term in January 2025, as the federal government intensifies its immigration crackdown.

According to the US State Department, the number of revoked visas has risen rapidly in recent weeks, up from more than 175,000 as of August 10.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the administration is carrying out visa revocations at the fastest pace in US history.

Pigott stressed that the government is taking a firm stance against foreign nationals who violate the law, commit fraud, or pose threats to national security.

However, human rights advocates have raised concerns over some of the administration’s measures, including visa revocations targeting foreign nationals who participate in pro-Palestinian protests and those who express their views on social media.

Critics warned that the campaign could undermine due process and freedom of expression, while raising concerns about potential discrimination in law enforcement, particularly against minority communities.

While Trump’s campaign has focused on curbing illegal immigration, his administration has also expanded measures that make it more difficult for foreign nationals to enter and remain in the United States legally.
