71-year-old guard shoots worker in Mandaue over alleged bullying

A 50-year-old maintenance worker at a poultry farm died after he was allegedly shot by a 71-year-old security guard in Barangay Canduman early Monday, Oct. 5.

The victim was identified as Alias Mar, a resident of Mandaue City. The suspect, identified as Nestor, was a stay-in security guard at the poultry farm where the victim worked.

According to the report, Mar had allegedly been drinking when he went to a store across from the poultry farm. He allegedly repeatedly challenged and bullied Nestor, who was seated in the area.

The store owner reportedly heard the victim challenging the security guard.

The suspect told Brigada News FM Cebu that he did not regret what happened, saying the alleged bullying had gone too far.

The victim’s sibling, however, said Mar was not aggressive or loud when he was drunk.

Nestor is currently detained at the Canduman Police Station and is facing a murder case in connection with the shooting.
