PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the decline was linked to continuing police operations, including improved patrols and police visibility.
Nartatez said police presence on the streets is important to allow officers to respond quickly to incidents.
The PNP is also continuing its campaigns against loose firearms, illegal drugs and terrorism, which Nartatez identified as among the factors related to criminal activity.
Despite the decline, Nartatez cautioned against complacency and said police operations must continue to maintain peace and public safety. SunStar Publishing Inc.
