A 23-year-old student is facing a formal complaint after caught using his mobile phone to take upskirt photos of the owner of a Korean grocery store in Muntinlupa.
CCTV footage from the establishment allegedly showed the suspect placing his cellphone underneath the woman’s skirt to take a photo.
The victim immediately reported the incident to barangay authorities and had the alleged photo deleted from the suspect’s phone.
During a confrontation at the barangay hall, the suspect’s parents reportedly apologized and appealed to the victim to drop the complaint, saying the incident could affect their son’s education.
The victim, however, declined the appeal and said she had already filed a formal complaint with the Office of the Prosecutor.
According to the Muntinlupa Police, the suspect’s family also requested that the viral video of the incident be taken down from social media.
Meanwhile, the victim urged the public to speak up and report incidents of harassment instead of remaining silent when faced with similar situations.
