Remulla postpones France trip amid South Cotabato school shooting

Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla has postponed his scheduled trip to France following the deadly shooting at Banga National High School in South Cotabato.

During a press briefing on Saturday, September 19, Remulla said his trip could be delayed by two to three weeks as he focuses on the situation and attends to additional documents requested by Interpol.

Remulla was supposed to travel to France to discuss efforts to convince French authorities to reject the asylum application of former Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co.

Meanwhile, following the Banga school shooting, Remulla said he will push for the legalization of PNP inspections of the homes of licensed firearm owners to ensure that their guns are properly and securely stored.

He also urged the House of Representatives to pass legislation that would establish clearer accountability for gun owners or parents of students involved in school shooting incidents.
