Boxing legend Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao has added another milestone to his storied career after receiving an honorary Doctorate in Physical Education and Sports from the Philippine Normal University (PNU) on Wednesday, September 16.
PNU said the honor recognizes Pacquiao’s contributions to Philippine sports beyond his accomplishments inside the boxing ring.
The university highlighted his journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of the country’s most celebrated athletes, saying his story continues to inspire Filipinos to overcome difficult circumstances and pursue excellence.
PNU also emphasized the role of sports in promoting personal transformation, social mobility, and national pride, values that it said are reflected in Pacquiao’s life and career.
Pacquiao’s wife, Jinkee, meanwhile, congratulated the former world champion and expressed her pride over the recognition.
“I’m so incredibly proud of you, Sec. Manny Pacquiao,” Jinkee said.
