Former House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez maintained that he is innocent of the allegations against him and said he would face the case.
In a statement, Romualdez said he respects the Sandiganbayan’s decision to transfer him to the Quezon City New Male Dormitory in Payatas.
He said he would face the case and answer the accusations against him.
Romualdez acknowledged that the situation is difficult for him and his family but said he would confront it with dignity, faith in God and confidence in the truth.
The former speaker also thanked his doctors at Cardinal Santos Medical Center and the Philippine General Hospital for their care and professional judgment.
He said he would continue following the medical advice of his doctors.
Romualdez’s statement followed the Sandiganbayan’s decision regarding his transfer to the Quezon City detention facility. He reiterated his innocence and expressed readiness to address the allegations through the legal process.
He also recognized the efforts of the medical professionals who have been attending to him and said he would continue to follow their recommendations while facing the case.
