One person died and three others were injured after seven vehicles were involved in a road collision in Barangay Calinan, Calinan District, Davao City.
The accident happened at Purok 8, Magsaysay Street corner Aurora Street, where the vehicles were traveling toward Datu Abing Street from Barangay Malagos.
Based on the initial investigation, the vehicles involved were three motorcycles, two cars, one bao-bao and one truck. Police said the truck reportedly experienced brake failure while traveling along the road.
The truck then struck the rear portion of a tricycle and a motorcycle carrying three passengers, triggering a chain collision involving the other vehicles in the area.
The motorcycle driver and the three passengers sustained injuries and were brought to a hospital for medical treatment.
One of the victims, a woman, later died after being taken to the hospital because of injuries sustained in the accident.
Authorities have temporarily taken the truck driver into police custody as part of the investigation. All vehicles involved in the collision were also placed under police custody for further investigation and proper disposition.
