Fire engulfed a building at Columbotan Baho National High School in Tudela, Misamis Occidental, on Friday afternoon, August 21, 2026.
Authorities reported no injuries or deaths after the fire damaged part of the Department of Education owned school building reported.
Firefighters received the alarm at 2:04 p.m. and responded to the reported fire at the school premises that afternoon.
Tudela Fire Station reached the area and deployed personnel to contain the flames before they spread across the affected building.
Authorities raised the first alarm at 2:35 p.m. as firefighters intensified their efforts to control the spreading flames.
They raised the second alarm one minute later as firefighters continued battling the fire inside the affected school building there.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 3:05 p.m. after conducting sustained firefighting operations inside the affected structure.
Authorities extinguished the fire at 3:20 p.m. after firefighters checked the area and prevented further spread of flames.
Authorities estimated that approximately 400 square meters of the Department of Education owned building sustained damage from the fire.
Fire Officer Two Jeffrey Florida discussed the incident, including the ongoing investigation into the fire’s cause and the estimated damage.
Authorities continue investigating the incident to determine what caused the fire and establish the exact extent of the property damage.
