Two-time world champion Edward Jay “Edward” Dapadap has officially retired from professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB).
Aurora Gaming announced the veteran EXP laner’s retirement on social media, ending a seven-year professional career highlighted by multiple championships in both local and international competitions.
“Thank you for being part of the best years of my life. Maybe this is the last time you’ll see me wearing a pro jersey, but for all the support you’ve shown, I will carry it with me forever,” Edward said.
Edward won three MPL Philippines titles with Blacklist International in Seasons 7, 8, and 10. He also helped the team secure the M3 World Championship in 2021.
He later joined Aurora Gaming and added another world title to his résumé after being part of the squad that won the M7 World Championship.
With two world championships under his belt, Edward became one of only four players to achieve the feat in MLBB.
The 25-year-old was also inducted into the MPL Hall of Legends in May 2023, further cementing his legacy in Philippine esports.
Edward said he had been considering retirement for some time and now wants to dedicate more time to himself and his family after years in the competitive scene.
His retirement drew mixed reactions from fans, with some expressing surprise over the timing.
Others praised Edward’s decision, saying he deserves to prioritize himself and his family after years of sacrificing his education, personal time, and family life for his professional career.
