National Indigenous Peoples Day is officially observed every August 9 under Republic Act Number 10689, enacted by Congress in 2015.
The law calls for meaningful observance that advances the rights and collective well-being of Indigenous Peoples throughout the Philippines annually.
The observance aligns with the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, recognized every August 9 by the United Nations.
In General Santos, the commemoration provided participants an opportunity to celebrate their heritage through performances, cultural expressions, and community participation.
