Iran has refused to reopen the Strait of Hormuz unless the United States accepts several conditions set by Tehran.
These include compensation for damages caused by the war, the lifting of sanctions, and an end to military threats before the waterway is reopened.
According to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, discussions are already in the “final stages,” but the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until the United States meets the conditions set by Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz is a major global energy route, carrying around one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
New shipping lanes will only be opened and made available once the United States complies with the agreed conditions.
