The Roxas City Police Station continues its intensive investigation into the fatal shooting of 22-year-old delivery rider Chester Alagon on July 28.
Police reported that unidentified suspects attacked Alagon in Barangay Sibaguan, Roxas City, prompting investigators to launch an extensive criminal investigation immediately afterward.
Roxas City Police Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Rogelio Tomagtang Jr. confirmed that investigators continue reviewing available CCTV footage to identify possible suspects.
Authorities also continue gathering physical evidence and interviewing witnesses to accelerate the investigation and establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting incident.
Tomagtang said the Scene of the Crime Operatives conducted a ballistic examination on the recovered bullet from the crime scene recently.
The examination revealed that the recovered bullet came from a caliber .38 firearm, providing investigators with another important lead in the case.
Police currently consider robbery as one of the possible motives behind the attack based on their initial findings during the investigation.
However, investigators believe the suspects failed to steal the victim’s money and personal belongings after nearby residents responded to the gunshots.
Authorities said the suspects reportedly fled the area in panic when residents came outside after hearing multiple gunshots during the attack.
Investigators also found no threatening messages or suspicious communications after examining the victim’s mobile phone as part of their continuing inquiry.
The Roxas City Police urged the public to cooperate with investigators by providing any information that could help identify the suspects involved.
Authorities remain committed to solving the case quickly and delivering justice for Chester Alagon, while supporting his grieving family throughout the investigation.
