The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over ten areas because of Tropical Depression Luis.
PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Luis remained over the eastern part of Aurora while maintaining maximum sustained winds reaching 55 kilometers per hour.
The weather disturbance also generated wind gusts reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour as it continued moving across Philippine waters.
Authorities placed portions of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Apayao, and Kalinga under Signal No. 1 to prepare communities for possible impacts.
Officials also included Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, the Polillo Islands, and Camarines Norte among areas facing potential threats from the storm.
PAGASA urged residents living within affected provinces to monitor official weather bulletins and remain alert for possible changes in storm conditions.
The agency warned that strong winds and occasional heavy rainfall could affect vulnerable communities, especially those located in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Forecasters expect Tropical Depression Luis to continue moving northwest while gradually approaching the northern section of Luzon during the coming hours today.
Weather experts also projected that the tropical depression could pass near or make landfall over Northern Luzon tonight until early Tuesday morning.
Local government units continued coordinating with disaster response agencies while preparing emergency resources and advising residents to follow official safety instructions immediately.
Authorities encouraged the public to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and cooperate with evacuation measures whenever local officials consider immediate action necessary.
