The Sandiganbayan Third Division has granted the petition for bail filed by former Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. in connection with the malversation case he faces over the alleged ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
In its resolution, the anti-graft court said the prosecution failed to present strong evidence of Revilla’s guilt in the charge of malversation through falsification of public documents during the hearings on his bail petition.
The court set Revilla’s bail at ₱1 million.
Once the cash bond is posted, Revilla will be allowed temporary release while the trial continues, unless there are other legal grounds requiring him to remain in custody.
The Sandiganbayan, however, denied the bail petitions of Revilla’s six co-accused.
Those denied bail were identified as Brice Hernandez, Jaypee De Leon Mendoza, Arjay Domasig, Emelita Capistrano Juat, Juanito Coronel Mendoza, and Christina Mae Del Rosario Pineda.
Revilla and his co-accused are facing charges related to the alleged ₱92.8 million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
According to the court’s resolution, the ruling on the bail petition was based on the evidence presented during the bail proceedings and determined that the prosecution did not establish strong evidence of guilt against Revilla for purposes of his request for provisional liberty.
The criminal proceedings against Revilla and the other accused remain pending before the Sandiganbayan.
The denial of the six co-accused’s petitions means they will remain in custody while the trial continues, unless future court orders provide otherwise.
The case stems from allegations involving the implementation of the flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan, which is valued at ₱92.8 million. The court has not yet ruled on the merits of the criminal charges, and the trial will continue.
