The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has placed its units in Extreme Northern Luzon under Blue Alert, or heightened monitoring, in preparation for Super Typhoon Inday.
According to OCD spokesperson Junie Castillo, personnel in Regions I, II, and the National Capital Region (NCR) have been closely monitoring weather conditions for the past several days.
Castillo said the agency has activated preparedness measures, including the readiness of evacuation centers and the prepositioning of food supplies and emergency equipment.
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) in areas expected to be affected by the typhoon have also been on alert since July 6.
He added that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has directed local government units (LGUs) to carry out preemptive evacuations in flood- and landslide-prone areas whenever necessary.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are coordinating with concerned agencies to help maintain peace and order during the typhoon’s onslaught.
