The production team behind the primetime television series “Sigabo,” led by actor Coco Martin, attended a compliance seminar after the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) received complaints over the show’s alleged excessive and repeated depiction of violence.
The seminar for CCM Film Productions, Coco Martin’s production company, was held at the MTRCB office on July 6.
According to reports, the complaints cited the program’s frequent portrayal of violence, including fistfights, physical abuse, torture, and the use of violent language.
In a statement, MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto clarified that the seminar was intended to guide and assist both the program and its production team.
She said the board recognizes the social relevance of Sigabo’s scenes and storyline and fully supports such content, but stressed that there should always be limits.
Meanwhile, Malu Sevilla of CCM Film Productions said the company understands the MTRCB’s concerns.
She also assured the board that the production will responsibly comply with the agency’s standards and guidelines for television programming.
