The Los Angeles Lakers acquired center Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz through a sign-and-trade agreement, signing him to a four-year contract worth $130 million.
In exchange, the Jazz will receive two first-round draft picks and two pick swaps.
The move marks the Lakers’ biggest roster acquisition since the departure of LeBron James. Kessler, who turns 25 this month, is expected to strengthen the team’s frontcourt alongside guards Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
Kessler appeared in only five games last season after undergoing shoulder surgery. Despite the limited appearances, he averaged 14.4 points and 10.8 rebounds.
The Lakers added Kessler as part of their efforts to reinforce the roster ahead of the upcoming NBA season, while the Jazz secured future draft assets through the trade agreement.
