A passenger bus crashed into the center island along Barangay Saravia in Koronadal City at around 12:00 midnight on June 24, damaging five posts.
According to a social media post by Koronadal City Vice Mayor Ma. Ester Marin Catorce, the bus passed over the center island structure after the collision.
Photos shared by the vice mayor showed the bus resting on top of the damaged structure, indicating the strong impact of the accident.
Authorities confirmed that only the driver and the conductor were inside the bus when the incident happened in Barangay Saravia.
Both occupants remained in good condition and did not sustain serious injuries following the crash, based on the initial information released.
Investigators have not yet determined the exact cause of the accident as authorities continue their assessment of the incident scene.
Personnel also inspected the damaged center island and the five affected posts to determine the extent of the destruction and necessary repairs.
The incident temporarily drew attention from motorists and residents who passed through the area during the early morning hours.
Authorities reminded drivers to observe road safety measures, especially during nighttime travel when visibility becomes limited and road conditions may become difficult.
Local officials expect the damaged infrastructure to undergo immediate repairs to restore normal traffic flow and prevent similar incidents in the future.
