Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson Director John Rex Laudiangco has confirmed that the election period for the first-ever Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections will officially begin next month.
Speaking during the Media Orientation on the Bangsamoro Peace Process, Bangsamoro Electoral Code, and Media Safety in Davao City, Laudiangco said the election period is scheduled to start on July 16, 2026.
As part of election security measures, Comelec checkpoints will be established throughout the region.
A comprehensive election gun ban will also take effect during the election period.
According to Laudiangco, the Commission will release a list of Election Areas of Concern based on assessments to be conducted by security and law enforcement agencies.
He also assured the public that both the police and military are fully prepared to maintain peace and order and ensure a secure election period in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
