Senate website remains under maintenance following alleged hack

The Senate’s website remained under maintenance following a reported hacking incident.

According to the Senate’s Electronic Data Processing–Management Information System Service (EDP-MIS), an initial assessment showed no indication that any confidential or sensitive information had been compromised.

The office also said it would implement additional security measures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

Meanwhile, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) immediately coordinated with the Senate’s EDP-MIS to address the alleged cyberattack.

In a statement, the DICT said the website was temporarily placed under maintenance as a precautionary measure while security validation and restoration efforts are being carried out.

Based on the initial assessment, there is currently no indication that sensitive or confidential information has been compromised.

However, the technical investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

In addition, the DICT, the Senate, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and law enforcement agencies are conducting a forensic analysis to determine the source of the incident.

The agency also assured the public that efforts to restore the affected services are underway and urged everyone to rely only on official announcements from the Senate and the DICT.
