Trillanes claims ICC Warrant issued against Bato

Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV confirmed that the International Criminal Court (ICC) had allegedly issued an arrest warrant against Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

On Monday afternoon, Trillanes arrived at the Senate carrying what he claimed was a copy of the ICC arrest warrant against Dela Rosa.

According to Trillanes, he was merely responding to Dela Rosa’s challenge on national television to accompany the arresting team if authorities attempted to serve a warrant.

Trillanes also claimed that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) would allegedly carry out the arrest of the senator.

The development came as Dela Rosa appeared at the Senate during voting related to efforts to remove Senate President Tito Sotto, who is expected to serve as presiding officer in the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Upon entering the Senate session hall, Dela Rosa was seen shouting angrily, claiming that NBI personnel had blocked him outside the premises.

The senator also showed alleged injuries on his hand, which he said were sustained during the incident outside the Senate.

No official statement from the ICC or the NBI confirming the alleged arrest warrant had been released as of posting time.

The incident added tension to the ongoing political developments surrounding the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Duterte and the reported ICC actions linked to the previous administration’s anti-drug campaign.
