The Palace raised concerns over remarks made by Vice President Sara Duterte after she admitted that she does not know how to use a computer.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro described Duterte’s statement as alarming during an ambush interview, saying it raised questions about leadership and decision-making.
Duterte earlier made the statement while denying allegations that she struck a laptop belonging to lawyer Michael Poa.
According to Castro, it would be difficult for someone aspiring to become president to make proper decisions without knowledge of computer use.
“She herself confirmed that. She admitted that she does not know how to use a computer and only uses it during Zoom meetings. So most probably someone else still presses the buttons for her,” Castro said.
Castro also brought up the MATATAG Curriculum launched during Duterte’s tenure as Education secretary.
The Palace official said the curriculum may not have been properly reviewed because of Duterte’s admitted lack of computer knowledge.
Castro also questioned Duterte’s management style, asking how she could properly govern if she only knew how to repeatedly direct the people working under her.
The remarks add to the continuing public exchanges between Duterte and administration officials over leadership and governance issues.
