VP Sara keeps former President Duterte away from impeachment discussions

Vice President Sara Duterte said she no longer informs her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, about updates regarding the impeachment complaints filed against her.

According to Duterte, she prefers not to discuss what she described as “bad news” with the former president, citing concerns about his condition while staying alone inside a detention facility.

The Vice President said heavy political issues would not be good for her 81-year-old father and added that she wants him to focus only on “happy things.”

She also said their family could not avoid thinking about the possibility that the former president might die while in detention.

Duterte made the remarks while also thanking Filipinos who continue to support and trust her amid the impeachment controversy she is facing.

She claimed that some of her critics were behind the impeachment complaints, which she described as allegedly fabricated by the House of Representatives.

The Vice President added that if her impeachment eventually pushes through, she believes it would happen because it was “written by God.”

Duterte also emphasized that while she respects public opinion, she views comments from lawmakers differently, especially when some appear certain about the outcome of the impeachment process.

She earlier stated that despite what she described as political persecution against her, her disposition remains unchanged amid the issues she continues to face.

The Vice President did not provide additional details regarding the status of the impeachment complaints during her statement.

The impeachment issue remains one of the major political controversies involving Duterte and several lawmakers from the House of Representatives.
