Fish vendor shot dead in Valencia City, Bukidnon

A 53-year-old fish vendor was shot dead early morning April 26, 2026, in Purok 15, Barangay Bagontaas, Valencia City, Bukidnon, police said.

The victim, identified only by the alias “Bruno,” was found slumped beside his sidecar with no signs of life after being shot by an unidentified suspect at about 5:40 a.m.

Authorities said the victim was a resident of Purok 4, Sugarland, Barangay Lumbo, in the same city. He was reportedly on his way to a fish landing area to buy fish to sell when the shooting occurred.

Initial information showed that upon reaching the area where the incident happened, the suspect suddenly opened fire, hitting the victim in the head near the ear. The gunshot wound caused the victim’s death.

The victim’s wife, identified as Mary Jane, told authorities that she was unaware of any personal enemies or disputes involving her husband.

Meanwhile, the victim’s sibling also clarified that the victim had no criminal record and had never been imprisoned. The sibling added that jealousy related to the victim’s business could be a possible motive behind the killing, although this has not been confirmed by authorities.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the identity of the suspect and establish the motive behind the crime.

Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and interview possible witnesses in the area as part of efforts to resolve the case. Investigators have not yet released additional details regarding the suspect or possible leads as of this time.
