DTI: No need for panic buying amid economic pressures

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina Roque urged the public to remain calm following the declaration of a National Energy Emergency.

In an interview, Roque assured that the supply of basic goods in the Philippines remains sufficient.

She said there is no need for panic buying, hoarding, or profiteering.

The DTI chief also noted that the Department of Agriculture (DA) has confirmed adequate inventory levels.

However, Roque acknowledged that rising fuel prices may eventually affect production and logistics.

She added that meetings with manufacturers have been scheduled to assess potential requests for price adjustments.
