Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) spokesperson Eunice Samonte reported that more than 300,000 passengers flocked to ports over the weekend.
With Christmas approaching, the PPA expects even more travelers in the coming days.
In an interview with Brigada NewsFM Manila, Samonte reminded the public not to patronize fixers, following reports of individuals offering to speed up boarding at ports in exchange for as much as ₱2,000.
Samonte stressed that travelers should avoid dealing with fixers, saying there would be no victims if no one cooperates.
She also advised the public to transact only through legitimate websites and directly with authorized port personnel.
Meanwhile, the PPA has deployed additional port police to whom travelers can report such incidents.
