From ICC detention, former President Duterte sends flowers to parents’ tomb in Davao City

Even while detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, former President Rodrigo Duterte found a way to honor his parents during Undas in Davao City.

Reports said Duterte sent flowers to the tomb of his late parents at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. A standee of the former president was also placed outside the family mausoleum.

At the same time, the office of 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte distributed food packs to cemetery visitors, staff, and nearby residents. The gesture continued a family tradition of giving back to Davaoeños during Undas and other special occasions.

The Dutertes have made it customary to mark All Saints’ Day by offering both prayers and gratitude to city residents, thanking them for their continued support through the years.

Though the former president remains under detention at the ICC, his presence was symbolically felt in Davao through the floral offering and the family’s act of generosity — a gesture that drew public attention both for its timing and its message of remembrance.
