Palace assures stable prices for 190 basic goods until year-end

Malacañang assured the public that prices of basic necessities and prime commodities monitored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will remain unchanged until the end of the year.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the assurance covers 190 products included in the DTI’s suggested retail price (SRP) system.

Castro said the DTI continues to coordinate with manufacturers and retailers to ensure sufficient supply and maintain affordable and stable prices.

However, she clarified that some brands of canned sardines that were recently reported to have increased their prices are not included in the 190 products monitored by the agency.

The Palace also advised consumers to check the DTI’s official list of monitored products and choose items that fit their budgets.

The assurance comes amid reports of price increases involving certain canned sardine brands, although these products are outside the DTI’s 190-item monitoring list covered by the Palace statement.

The DTI’s coordination with manufacturers and retailers is aimed at maintaining adequate supplies and keeping prices stable for the covered commodities.

Consumers were encouraged to use the agency’s SRP list as a reference when purchasing basic goods.

Malacañang reiterated its assurance that the prices of the covered products would remain stable through the end of the year.
