Security forces killed one of Sulu’s most wanted fugitives during an armed encounter in Barangay Kapok Punggol, Maimbung, Sulu on August 16.
The Philippine Army’s 41st Infantry “Partner for Peace” Battalion, together with the 11th Infantry Division, Maimbung Municipal Police, RMFB14, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), neutralized Alganer Dahim, also known as “Wangbu,” ranked as the No. 2 most wanted person in Sulu.
Authorities said Dahim was a notorious lawless element tied to multiple crimes, including the murder of Police Colonel Kasim, Sulu Provincial Director, and the killing of three members of the Amil family in Barangay Labah, Maimbung. He was also suspected of running large-scale drug operations across Parang, Indanan, and Maimbung.
Recovered at the scene were several magazines, ammunition, and other war materiel. Four Army soldiers were injured by grenade shrapnel during the operation and received medical treatment.
Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division and Joint Task Force Orion, said the operation underscored their commitment to law enforcement.
“There is no place for criminals and lawless elements to hide in Sulu, and justice will always catch up with those who sow violence,” Peña said.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines, working closely with the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement units, vowed to sustain operations aimed at ensuring lasting peace and security in the province.
