A patient’s family in Aklan expressed frustration after discovering a needle allegedly left in a wound following treatment at Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital.
According to a relative, the patient sustained an elbow injury after falling off a motorcycle. He was immediately taken to the hospital’s emergency room, where doctors and nurses treated his wound. The attending physician later cleared him to go home.
However, a day after treatment, the patient experienced increasing pain. Upon checking the wound, the family was shocked to find a needle embedded near the injured area. They removed the object, placed it in a container, and returned to the hospital.
A video recorded at the facility captured hospital staff acknowledging the incident. Despite this, the family has yet to receive an official explanation from the hospital regarding the alleged medical negligence. Meanwhile, they have transferred the patient to a private hospital in Kalibo for further treatment.
The family is demanding answers and accountability, urging authorities to investigate the incident.
