One of the largest fast food restaurant chains McDonald’s in Buri Road branch in Bacolod City voluntarily closed on February 12, 2025, after failing to secure a proper permit to operate.
Bacolod City Legal Officer (CLO) Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu said the establishment applied for a business permit but failed to obtain a fire safety permit from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The branch still opened to the public on February 1, 2025, despite lacking the necessary permit.
Chiu added that the company decided to shut down starting February 14, 2025. The fast food chain can resume operations once it secures all required permits.
The Bacolod City Government reminded business owners that while the city supports business growth, they must still comply with regulations.
