Over 200 residents homeless after massive fire in Talisay City

A massive fire broke out in Purok Pasil, Barangay Zone 5, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, leaving more than 200 residents homeless.

Authorities received the fire alarm at 1:33 p.m., and firefighters managed to put out the blaze by 3:34 p.m.

The fire spread quickly as most of the houses were made of light materials and built close together. A total of 55 homes were destroyed, resulting in an estimated ₱525,000 worth of property damage.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Displaced families are currently taking shelter at the Talisay City Gym, where they have received initial assistance. The local government is also preparing further aid for the victims.
